Our 2023-2025 Strategic Plan will tackle homelessness by focusing on Housing, Health, and Employment. Through Evaluation, Leadership, Innovation, and Advocacy, we will work towards ensuring that all Canadians have access to dignified housing.
Beaverton Expansion
Blue Door is excited to announce that we have been selected by the Regional Municipality of Durham to operate the new 47-unit Beaverton Transitional Supportive Housing residence.
Blue Door increases housing access and retention, by creating and retaining new and existing affordable, transitional and emergency housing.
Blue Door strengthens people’s mental and physical health through physical, emotional, psychological and social well-being services.
Blue Door’s social enterprise, Construct, provides skills training, wraparound supports, hands-on experience, to helps people gain well-payinc careers needed to afford housing. Blue Door also supports the expansion and replication of its social enterprise services to other geographic areas.
Davian’s Story
At 65 years old, with health and financial problems, and feeling lonely and scared, I found solace here.
Since coming to Blue Door, I’ve met people who genuinely care about me and my safety. The attentive staff helped me apply for government supports and are tirelessly working to secure a supportive living house because the truth is, I can’t do it alone anymore.
Knowing I have an army of front-line workers behind me, I feel assured that I’ll be okay.
Marina’s Story
Facing homelessness, abuse, incarceration, depression, and PTSD, my life was filled with challenges. I relied on Ontario Works and struggled to maintain a stable career. As a single mother of four, I wanted better for my children and show them that anything is possible.
Discovering Blue Door’s Construct program, I was ready to start this new challenge as a woman in the skilled trades. Being part of Construct brought me a sense of accomplishment and the motivation to keep going.
Jessica’s Story
It was the first snow day of the winter when 27-year-old Jessica was unexpectedly thrown out of a home where she had been couch-surfing in Vaughan.
Cold, scared and all alone, the young woman from Mexico found herself wandering the dark streets, looking for a place to stay, eventually finding Mosaic Interfaith Out of the Cold.
Lifting people out of homelessness and poverty, your gift will provide employment training propelling people into well-paying careers in the trades, a bed for the night, a warm meal, psychotherapy, onsite basic healthcare, longer stays to overcome trauma and barriers, and much much more.
